I can see the spouts and splashes of a whale off the barren cliffs of Mitrofania Island. The sky is blue and fringed with white clouds as the sun sets on 64th day since we touched at Seattle last. This place is beautiful in a harsh, unwelcoming way. The edges of the island are crisp, but the network of islands are like rocky echoes into the mists in the distance. The seas are relatively calm in the lee of the islands, but tonight we expect to be bounced about, but for now we are making 7 knots and on schedule for arriving on the 24th.
