I just got off the phone with my assessor at the Coast Guard in Virginia. Turns out one of the officers who signed my Towing Officer Assessment Record was NOT in fact a registered Designated Examiner. So my application is hung up until I can get that resolved by getting another Captain to sign it. If the Capt from that voyage can’t or won’t sign it, it may mean having to sail without the TOAR and getting it signed off later, or having to sail as an AB one more time. The good news is that she is going to process my AB ticket immediatley and I may have that as soon as 2 or 3 weeks from now. I don’t see any hope at this time of actually getting my license until January.
