I have put filmmaking aside to pursue a career on the water. So I went and got my z-card (Merchant Marine Document) and finished my basic safety training. I spent the winter of ‘06 living on the WHITE HOLLY as crew boss and working also on the SHANA RAE as a deck hand. I have started classes in Seattle at Pacific Maritime Institute which is a 2 year program to get my Mates License. There has been some school, some sea time and some time off, but it’s getting down to the wire. One more sea phase and I should have enough.
If your interested in a career in the Merchant Marines, then check out the pages on the left for information about getting started.
I have finished 273 days at sea with Dunlap Towing and finished all my classes. I am heading out on March 7th for my last sea phase, and taking my licensing exams in mid June.
